In short:
An Aboriginal reconciliation and truth-telling park was once proposed as the centrepiece of development at Macquarie Point, but when a stadium emerged, its location and scale changed.
It has now reduced in size again, with practice cricket pitches and a relocated heritage Goods Shed to be placed on top of some of the land.
What’s next?
The government-owned developer, Macquarie Point Development Corporation, says it will continue to engage with the Aboriginal community regarding the space.
If people were holding their breath in anticipation of Mac Point embracing Aboriginal people, culture and/or something more than tokenism, the news is bad. There’s no room on the site. #nonewstadium https://t.co/ChFdNwYxN5
