ABC Listen: Tasmanian Greens leader calls on premier to release Macquarie Point stadium cost update

Tasmanian Greens leader Rosalie Woodruff says a motion will be moved tomorrow calling for an updated cost figure for the proposed Macquarie Point stadium. 

It comes after the Public Accounts Committee heard on Friday that the war in the Middle East has increased costs for the stadium build. 

Hobart Breakfast presenter David Reilly asks Dr Woodruff to explain how releasing an updated cost figure would benefit taxpayers when the government is still trying to secure the tenderer with the lowest price.

“Why should that be secret when it was public just last year,” she says. 

“When we’re talking about multi-billion dollars, it’s very fair to get an updated estimate.”
