Tasmanian community services organisations say sacrificing their funding to try and balance the state’s budget could have “horrendous” consequences on the sector, which is already battling to stay alive.
Consultation for next year’s budget has already begun, and the sector’s peak body says the tone “highlights” the possibility of significant cuts, and no new money.
What’s next?
Treasurer Eric Abetz will release an “interim” budget on November 6 before his first full state budget next May, and the need for budget repair has already been outlined.
