The development application for a proposed multi-purpose stadium in Hobart has been lodged, with construction expected to cost $60 million more than previously estimated.
The 23,000-seat, roofed stadium at Macquarie Point was one of the AFL’s key requirements for the introduction of the Tasmania Devils team into the AFL competition.
The Macquarie Point Development Corporation has lodged its application with the Tasmanian Planning Commission as part of the state government’s Project of State Significance process.
ALP leader (and Liberal follower) Dean Winter says Labor's support for the proposed stadium hinges on it being delivered at or below the $375m state expenditure cap set by the government. He knows that’s an impossibility. Time to be honest and say it’s all over. #nonewstadium
