The government authority responsible for the proposed Hobart stadium says a scathing draft planning commission report into the project should be given “limited, if any weight”, and it has sought and received legal advice.

The draft report, which was released on Monday as part of the stadium’s Project of State Significance assessment process declared the stadium was “overbearing”, would risk the state’s credit rating, and would return only a 53-cent benefit to the state for every public dollar spent.

Lawyers representing the stadium’s proponent, the Macquarie Point Development Corporation (MPDC), have written to the Tasmanian Planning Commission arguing the report contains “errors of law”, approach and analysis.
