Staff at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) say they were informed last week that nearly 20 full-time-equivalent jobs are on the chopping block, equating to about 30 per cent of the institution’s workforce.
The state government says the claims are “false”, but concedes that there will be job cuts across the department overseeing TMAG, including at the gallery.

The union says the government needs to be clear about where the jobs were coming from, and what the potential service reductions would be as a result.
