In short:
The contentious Hobart AFL stadium project may be removed from its current planning and assessment process after the premier said he no longer had faith in two reports central to the project.
The premier and other MPs have questioned a disclosure made in renowned economist Dr Nicholas Gruen’s stadium report — added after the report was first published — of a meeting with anti-stadium campaigners. Dr Gruen says it was an administrative oversight.
What’s next?
If the stadium is pulled from the Project of State Significance (POSS) process, the government may bring about special legislation to have MPs vote to approve the project without the assessment.
We no longer have faith in the Premier. He ought resign. Turning on his own Planning Commission process and his government’s highly credentialed economic advisor is sounding more and more like Trump’s America. @peterfitz1.bsky.social @wendyharmer.bsky.social @mikecarlton01.bsky.social #nonewstadium
