The Tasmanian government has released its 2025-26 state budget, which paints a picture of a challenging economic environment.
New investments for this year’s budget and over the next four years include more than $1 billion for health services, including to support “demand pressures” and improve elective surgery wait times.
Schools will receive additional funding, largely because of a funding agreement signed with the federal government.
About $100 million in additional funding is being allocated to Tasmania Police, the Tasmanian Prison Service and Community Corrections.
