Roy and HG got stuck into the Stadium proposal on their show, Bludging on the Blindside.

Being the sensible fellas they are, they can’t believe what’s going on in Tasmania. Why build a stadium that’s going to cost every single Tasmanian (kids included!) thousands they can’t afford?  They think it’s up there with AUKUS in wacko behaviour. It just doesn’t add up, especially when we’re in the middle of a cost of living crisis.  And the thing that puzzles them most is why the AFL is pushing for this when they’re only going to use it 7 or 8 times a year. It’s just weird.  It’s a hilarious listen – if you’re not the one having to fork out for what Roy and HG call a ‘great huge lump’.

Start/End Times:  14.46-20.16

Highlights:

  • It just doesn’t add up. You’re building something that cricketers aren’t going to use, that the AFL’s going to use seven or eight times a year, and what are you going to do with it the rest of the time? It’s just going to sit there. A great huge lump, with a roof that’s made of timber that even Stumpy Boon says doesn’t add up.
  • The AFL want Macquarie Point to go ahead – for just six or seven games a year. I don’t know why! They want to play there. It’s weird. I mean look at AUKUS. You think that’s weird?  Aukus/Macquarie Point. Join the dots. Who’s in charge here? What’s going on?
  • These things always blow out. It’s 2 billion at the moment, which roughly means 4 billion.  Which means roughly $8,400 per person. It’s weird. It just doesn’t add up. And we’re in a cost of living crisis!
