The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has released a study which looks at workforce issues facing Tasmania as it moves closer to construction of a stadium on Hobart’s waterfront.
HIA Tasmania executive director Ben Price tells Leon Compton on Tasmania Mornings the project is a really good opportunity for the industry, but comes with challenges.
“We can and should have major project construction in Tasmania, we just need to have the workforce planning in order to deliver it,” he says.
He says there’s already a shortage of construction workers.
Who would have thought? After the Planning Commission, experts and the community said there’s a lack of workers for this unaffordable and unwanted project, the penny has finally dropped.
