Seven years ago, in May 2018, the sports in the United States crossed over to a whole new world after a landmark ruling.
It was then that the United States Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, which had previously restricted legal betting to Nevada for 26 years.
The ruling came after a legal battle that lasted almost six years, opening the door for any state to legalise sports gambling. Online or retail sports gambling is now legal in 38 US states.
Sports and betting had existed alongside each other for generations, but now had the potential, and more importantly, the ability, to be intertwined with each other like never before.
