Our Place – Hobart has described the recently revealed plan to locate a massive 40m by 40m substation in the Queens Domain, adjacent to heritage buildings, a heritage precinct, and a grove of endangered trees and grasslands, as outrageous.
Spokesperson Roland Browne said:
The stadium has been a planning disaster from day one. And it continues to be. This component has been hatched in secrecy. Over 3 years of planning by the government and MPDC, and there’s been no mention of this component of the project. Not a whisper.
It will undoubtedly cost many, many millions of dollars.
What else aren’t they telling us? And who’s paying for it?
Why wasn’t this revealed to the Parliament in December?
