In the current guise, it makes no financial sense, even from an economic prosperity model. Let’s improve our existing infrastructure and incorporate Launceston and Hobart in the solution, and have funding left over for health care.

Renegotiate AFL, Yes Team, No Mac Point, Yes York Park provided the budget is right.
I support a Tasmanain AFL team. The AFL Contract is unconscionable and should be re negotiated for a team only.

The Shooters, Fishers & Farmers Party of Tasmania opposes the use of “special legislation” to force through the AFL Macquarie Point stadium. This bypasses proper scrutiny and disrespects the Tasmanian Planning Commission’s independent process. We believe in fair, transparent planning for all—not political carve-outs for vanity projects. Instead of wasting public money on a stadium most don’t want, we would invest in grassroots sport across Tasmania—supporting the local clubs, volunteers and communities that are the real heart of our sporting culture. Tasmanians deserve better than special deals for political elite interests.
Would like to renegotiate with both AFL and Federal Government or run a lottery to cover a public private partnership.
I played 200 games of Football and we as a state have provided way more quality players than Brisbane, Sydney Gold Coast etc and should of had a team well before them, but not at any cost. We have a perfect stadium in Launceston that is AFL sanctioned and is voted the second best playing surface in the country. There is 130m being spent on it atm. I will not be bullied by the AFL.
